nokia-n97Since the Nokia N97 was first released there has been an issue which left early purchasers with a bad taste in their mouth, the lack of kinetic scrolling.

Kinetic scrolling is a common user experience found on most modern browsers where flick intensity is reflected in how the page scrolls and be seen on iPhone’s, Blackberry’s, Touch Pre 2’s etc.

Nokia has now released a firmware update, version 20.0.019 which brings kinetic scrolling not only to web browsing but as a system wide implementation.

Also in this update is:

  • A tweaked version of Ovi Maps, Ovi Maps 3.1 which boasts 3 dimensional maps
  • Nokia Email, Ovi Contacts and Ovi Store are all integrated in the core system image.
  • Increased memory and battery performance
  • Improved image and video stability
