First iPhone worm rickrolls jailbroken phones

11-08-09ikeeIt was only a matter of time before somebody directed their attention at causing a little bit of misery to all these iPhone fanboys, but not this, dear god not like this!

A hacker named ikex has created the first iPhone worm, and it’s currenlty infecting jailbroken iPhones in Australia.

The “ikee” worm takes advantage of the insecurity that jailbroken iPhones with SSH installed all have the same default root password of “alpine”. once in the system it changes your wallpaper to an image of Rick Astley and then tries to install itself on other jailbroken iPhones on your current network.

Sophos says it hasn’t confirmed any infections outside of Oz and to give you some peace of mind this worm can’t get to stock iPhones or jailbreak owners who haven’t installed SSH. If you do have a jailbroken iPhone though with SSH, please ensure you get that password changed, pronto.

All together now……

    Great article Daz, I changed mine the minute i heard about this.

    Instructions for changing pw are as follows;

    1.Install Mobile Terminal from Cydia
    2.Open Terminal and type: su (and then enter)
    3.Then type: alpine (don't worry you wont see what you type)
    4.Then type: passwd (and enter)
    5.then type your new password, and again to confirm.

    Thats it, your SSH password is changed.
