HTC_Hero_1It’s certainly an exciting time for mobile enthusiasts and if we’re honest HTC are the new dominators of the mobile marketplace.

They may not (yet) have the users of the iPhone but you cannot deny the massive domination they now have over the range of handsets available with practically every carrier and OS.

Today was the HTC product launch exhibition and (surprise surprise) they announced the HTC Hero.

Here’s the official first look video:

This thing is pretty high tech, think G1 but sexier but without a keyboard. It has a Teflon coating, apparently the screen is mark resistant and there’s some other nice new tech inside.

However as cool as that all is, believe it or not that’s not the interesting bit…

Let’s clear this up now, there is no such thing as “Rosie”. Rosie is Android with HTC’s new front end UI called “Sense”. Sense is effectively the new Touch Flow 3d. Windows Mobile owners will already be familiar with this fantastic graphical and functional UI or wrapper that is currently placed over the Windows Mobile 6.1 operating systems of its WinMo device range.

Sense however is going to take steps forwards. It’s not only going to be placed on its Android handsets but across the board on all HTC handsets (According to the guys at WMExperts here). This is revolutionary stuff, HTC are going to be the first handset manufacturers to create a single user experience regardless of carrier and OS.

From the Official press release:

Built on a culture of innovation and a passion to enhance peoples lives, HTC shapes the mobile experience around the individual. Debuting on the HTC Hero and available on all new HTC devices moving forward, Sense delivers on three basic principles: Make it Mine, Stay Close and Discover the Unexpected.

Obviously as you drill down through functionality and software the differences in the devices and OS’s will become prominent but essentially the core front end will be consistent. Check the video above for an overview of how it all looks.

As an HTC owner I can only be happy that the manufacturer is going from strength to strength, and if they keep making pioneering moves like this, they really are going to shape the mobile industry.

Here’s some pics from the HTC website for you to drool over, enjoy:
