Giant Android eclair delivered to Google
If you’re an Android fan you should now be familiar with Google’s confectionery codenames for its Android OS: version 1.5 (Cupcake), 1.6 (Donut), 2.0 (Eclair) and version x.x (Sundae) etc.
What you won’t be aware of unless you are a frequent visitor to Google HQ is that shortly before a release Google drops a giant foam model of the version’s codename onto it’s front lawn to create buzz.
Well, yesterday a giant Eclair (although it is open so I’d say more of a bun with cream) was dumped on Googleplex’s lawn. The thing is so big it takes 5 men to lift it and it joins the Donut and Cupcake next to the Android model for the versions that preceded it.
Does this mean Android 2’s release is imminent? doubtful, it’s not due until 2010 but it’s possible that they are getting their PR machine ready for all the new handsets that are hitting the shelves like the Motorola DEXT / CLIQ etc.
