Article by on Friday, 15 June 2012

There has been loose speculation that Samsung may be creating their own social network, today we hear news that Microsoft may buy one.

Bloomberg said yesterday in a report that that Microsoft is in talks to buy Yammer, which is a “freemium” model social networking site. Its niche? its USP? Enhanced collaborations between users.

Microsoft may pay of $1 billion, unnamed sources told Bloomberg, making yammer almost as valuable as instagram.

The obvious integration would be with the Office suite, giving Microsoft millions of users across more than 200,000 different companies off of the bat.
