Apple and Samsung settlement talks on May 21 and 22

Article by on Monday, 30 April 2012

Judge Lucy Koh recently said that she wanted Apple and Samsung to attend high-level court-moderated settlement talks to avoid the expensive and useless ongoing patent suits continuing into 2013.

“Within 90 days” was the original estimate for the proposed talks however Apple and Samsung have now been told to get ready for May 21st.

The talks will take place over 48 hours, in San Francisco, while the legal teams back up the talks from San Jose.

Magistrate Judge Joseph C. Spero will moderate the talks as, somehow, he is unfamiliar with the case.

Spero is said to be demanding: “a candid evaluation of the parties’ likelihood of prevailing on the claims and defenses” (emphasis by Spero).

We’re up to over 10 patent disputes between the two companies so let’s hope this silliness ends soon.
