Default How to remove the O2 Panel on X1

Got the O2 panel and you want to get rid of it?
This little tutorial will teach you how to unlock that panel so you can remove it

There are a few steps so follow them closely

Removing the O2 Panel

Installing Total Commander
  • Search on google for "Total Commander"
  • Download the PocketPC version for ARM processors
  • Download the .cab file to your desktop
  • Connect your X1 and sync it so it appears in my computer
  • Drag the .cab file onto your phone
  • On your X1, navigate to the folder where the .cab is located
  • Click on it and install it
Unlocking the O2 panel

  • On your X1 go to Start > Programs > Total Commander
  • In Total Commander navigate to:
  • \\plugins directory\registry\HKLM\Software\SonyEricsson\Pane lManager\Panels\o2Panel
  • Open the file called "Locked". The value in here should be set to 1. Change this value to 0
  • Close the program
Changing your O2 panel

  • Press the panel button your your X1
  • Click on the bottom right hand button. It should look like a spanner with panels behind it
  • Then click on the briefcase on the O2 panel
  • Chose your new panel and accept
Job Done

Cool! This is brilliant!

Any ideas now on getting the Google Panel back? It's not installed by default on the O2 UK phones. Or is the best solution simply to set google as homepage in Opera Mini 9.5?
