I think it's a bit of both.

G1 is large though, probably going to wait for second generation before buying into it.

I am happy about the concept of an open source mobile OS though. Will be very interesting, and as it's Google, how can it fail?

Both of them have pretty lovely UIs, but to me Google's first attempt is a bit like Windows XP. It certainly looks nice compared to 2000, but its a bit standard and not hugely breathtaking. Still half the fun in Android is you can change that!

The Xperia's interface is brilliant - bringing the kind of stuff you see in higher end PC apps to a phone. Still if you're a developer the G1 one is the way to go... it's be really interesting to see if third parties do create some brilliant apps, or if it ends up like the Windows Sidebar with about 2 good gadgets.

I think the X1 keyboard looks alot better & more easy to use.
