Mail APP

The mail function built into this phone is good, however I can not get it to work with hotmail. I would like to keep using this if I can. I contacted Microsoft Mobile support, however they just said to contact o2 for settings.

Has anyone got Live Mail working on this phone?

If you have what settings have you used. Thanks.

don't have my phone with me atm, but here's the pop3 settings for live mail for ya:

incoming
pop3.live.com (<yes, for hotmail too)
port:995
TLS > ON


outgoing
smtp.live.com
port:25
TLS > ON


your username in both instances is your full email address, authentication has to be switched on (auto if there is the option)

I'll get my phone back and try and sign up , see how it goes in a bit

Windows Live Hotmail cannot be accessed from the phone's Email Agent because WLH uses an SSL connection and the Viewty cannot be set up to handle this type of connection. If you want to use email on your phone, go to http://mobile.live.com/ on the web browser - that's the best way to access your email, Windows Live does also offer a mobile (push-like) notifications, but on some providers these messages cost you money (usually standard SMS rates if charged), and on others this feature is unavailable.

It'll never happen. LG has said more than once that they will never release software updates.

If you want push Hotmail get a new phone, most new phones has SSL and TSL support, so that you can use the settings from niceguyrichy's post above.

maybe, but bear in mind the viewty isn't the newest phone anymore, I've been using mine for well over a year and a half already.
GMail works nice and slick with it, why not set up yuor hotmail account to forward your mail to a gmail account and pick up your mail from there.
(slightly convoluted, but better than nothing )

This is now my solution, already did this thanks.

However, they still are selling ku990i so they should still support upgrades on this phone. It boiles my blood to see businesses still selling electronic devices as new but not support firmware upgrades e.t.c. If they sell it they should support it fully. Anyway thanks for the comments brilliant fast responces.

Just to clarify, LG has NEVER offered software updates, why would they start offering them for the 'Lite' version?

The KU990i was released because LG wanted to make a little more money from the best selling phone they've released. The Viewty's development was dead in the eyes of LG as soon as the first one was shipped from the factory.

To answer your Gmail from Mail App question, no. (I'm 99% sure, but I have a KU990).

The only think LG has changed - software wise - in the KU990i's software is the file manager, allowing finger scrolling.
