Lightbulb Your friend, the Samsung Tocco (F480)

This looks like a great forum so I hope someone can help.
All the games in the varoius post on this forum work perfectly on the new Samsung Tocco. The only problem is that the Tocco overlays a virtual keypad of navigation keys on the bottom part of the game obscuring some of the game.
Does anyone know:
1. Can this be removed somehow?
2. Can the games be changed to remove it (native Tocco games don't have it)
3. Can anyone point me to somewhere that can help?

Thanks.

Wait! wth!

I've been looking for games and applications for this phone too! I can't find any usefull information. What game(s) did you install on the phone? Could you explain to me how to instal them cause I can't get any to work!

I haven't been able to find ANY games that I can play on this phone, so if you can give me some link or ANYTHING to get (touchscreen)games for this phone I would be very happy!

Thanks in advance!

Download any of the games listed here:
http://www.ku990.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=3186

Then upload them to this site:
http://www.davidpye.com/index.php?page=freewap

Then use the browser on your phone to go to:
http://davidpye.com/wap

Select the jar section on the first page and find your files in his list. Then click on your file and it downloads to your phone and installs as a fully working game. No cracks, patches or funny codes needed.

Simple eh?

Woooh thanks allot, it works great! Too bad for the bar bottom of the screen though. I guess we'll just have to wait for official games, or untill someone finds out to remove them, but i'm not sure if that's possible. Only time will tell I guess.

Oh, and thanks again!

No problem.

Hopefully someone on this forum will see this post and work out what needs to be in the JAR file to prevent the virtual keys appearing. I guess looking at a Tocco native game might provide the answer.

Can anyone help with this?

Thanks.

Native Tocco games (of which I have one) don't show the keypad, so there must be a way of signaling to the phone that it's not needed. (If only the progammers had used the menu key to show and hide the on-screen kepad.)

Any ideas of how I can find out what the signal might be?

Hi,

Well I had a Viewty (still got it but girlfriend is using it now) and have changed to a Samsung Tocco. I'm having the same problem. I'd like to add a little bit of info though:

I installed the generic Opera Mini browser and while the phone still displays the navigation bar at the bottom, opera mini displays correctly without going under that bar. It looks as it does on the viewty with the viewtys nav bar.

However, when I run the games I had on the viewty from this forum, The Tocco puts the nav bar over the game unlike opera mini.

So my thinking is that if opera mini can work with this phones nav bar, surely the games can?

Any ideas peeps???

Native Viewty games (e.g Space Commando) don't show the bar either, but that doesn't mean games can hide the bar. My guess is Samsung have done a similar thing on the Tocco

Ok, to clear things out a bit;

Java ME applications have no choice, they will always get the navigation bar. It's built into the JVM. (Maybe there is an API-call for getting rid of it, I guess only the people at LG knows.)

With the top-bar (the one with reception strength etc...) and the navigation bar, the Java applications and games are limited to only 240 x 298 px.

Most games are designed to run at a resolution of 240 x 320 px (as this is the most common available resolution), hence, the image is cropped at the bottom.

Opera, however, senses the available resolution and adjusts its user interface to it.

The "native" games (e.g. Space Commando) isn't Java games, they're programmed in BREW and have significantly greater "freedom" to how they should be presented.
