This is a firmware flash guide! It's not a problem solving thread.

Please repost elsewhere.

Default April 09 Pink Edition!

April 09 Pink firmware now fully tested and added to the original post. All of the linked firmwares are open network & western european languages.

Reading through the many posts in this thread will familiarise you with the differences between firmwares and probably address most issues the F480 had from launch.

Looking to flash using April's update. Main reason - Phone is frozen after cock up when porting number across from T-Mobile to O2. T-Mobile provided unlock code but cannot assist in unfreezing phone - methinks their suggestion I either sell the phone or stay with T-Mobile is not ideal (either one).
Anyway firmware flashing guide is just about the clearest I've come across so getting to push the download button was a cinch.

Upon so doing my port reports "Serial port open error!" and nothing further happens.

UPDATE: Googling advised disable startup items via msconfig. No idea why this might work but it does.

However following flash (successful) I'm still unable to get O2's sim card working as it is still showing Phone Freeze. I'm now offered a choice between T-Mobile and Virgin - shame O2 wasn't on the list.

As the flash part was successful - the point of this forum - any suggestions as to where else I might head off to so I can get some advice.

CLOSURE: Trip down to shops - unfrozen for £10. New firmware is great improvement.

Well done for making flashing a walk in the park.

Hi ALL
brand new here and have been reading all night. I have a 480T. I am on vodafone and am desperate to get rid of ALL the Telstra crap on this phone and love the idea of the customizable widgets. However i haven't found any success stories of flashing this this phone not the 'T' version. Has anybody successfully reflashed this Telstra phone with this new firmware?!? Or am i basically screwed and stuck with all this Testra crap which i can't and will never use.
Thankyou for any help and advice.
Gus

It does seem like the "T" model doesn't take too well to the firmwares listed here! as such I don't think you should risk it.

The handsets are identical so the difference has to be software related! It may be that it needs a full flash to rid the handset of the Telstra files completely, but I can't be certain of that & doing so may screw your handset totally.

I'm going to update the original post with a warning.
