Thanks for your friendly and helpful reply, chrisdaniels.

I did try and ask this question in the actual 'Theme Manager v3.2' thread (twice) but unfortunately no one replied with an answer. I was aware of renaming theme_bg2.swf (and have done so on a stand-alone theme), but my main concern was the file widget2.swf, which already exists on my phone (widget1, widget2 and widget3 are all present)

Apologies for the newbie-ness of the question, but is this simply also a case of renaming the existing widget#.swf and over-writing it with the version from Theme Manager?

Thanks!

p/s: For some reason I got into the habit of writing 'ViewTY', but thanks for the correction ^^

You know what, i keep reading newbies getting bashed for not understanding, im sick of "well have you read the Wiki guide?" and "are you stupid its so easy"
That Wiki guide is not detailed enough AND ive read one person say there is no need to delete files and if you have deleted thats why the phone is dead, then i read the wiki guide which says "Delete the file "bg_theme2.swf"." well which is it?!
Some people need to adopt some patience when it comes to newbies, and make sure that any information given is so detailed that people wont keep asking the same questions as thorough information will all be there.
Do it right the first time and it wont need to be done again.

The main problem with "newbies" is the fact they think they are clued up technology wise but infact they dont know anything. Or are simply not English and dont understand. This website has gone global remember.

From my experience (and dont take offence anyone) but the majority of problem posters appear to be under 15 years of age and do not give the full details to what their problem is when they come across one and they havent read any instructions nevermind the wiki.. Thats one reason i would like ages posted on here and a BIG ass notice to the wiki when entering the hacking section of the forums.. Anyway, with regards to the Wiki, the majority of info has come from the forums or in some cases, my head. So if you spot an error why dont you tell us where it is!
I'm not going to proof read the entire thing - again. It was hard enough getting it all together in the first place! a bit of help would be a nice thing from you guys.

Jools and a few others have played their part and posted up some really good information. But hey, we are all human and are prone to mistakes.

With regards to deleting or not deleting theme_bg2.swf - it makes no friggin difference if you are going to put a file in its place anyway.
Yes the file does need to be there, but if you are replacing it then what does it matter which way you replace it? it doesnt.

Personally i dont know where that bit you read is, so if you point it out for me i'll take a look and edit if necessary.

A lot of problems arise from basic pc operation and the fact people dont understand how these thing work. And I for one am not going to start training people how to use a PC properly. Hell, i got enough to do!
All the info is available, it just up to the everyday folk what they decide to do with it.

Software revisions (V10a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h etc) are NOT updates but different Brandings! Swapping them will lose operator functions like MMS, internet etc! If you are unsure, don't do it!

Hi...I'm actually looking for the "common problems" page with TM...and keep getting redirected to the wiki or the install notes (neither of which help me).

Is there a page with TM problems on it?

My problem in brief: I've done everything in the TM readme to install it to the phone memory. I set the theme to "Silver", changed the clock to dual...and double-tapping "C" does nothing at all, even on the idle screen.

- "theme_bg2.swf" and the "Themes" folder are in "LGAPP/Media/swf/theme"
- "widget2.swf", "widget4.swf", and "nyx_viewtyx.swf" are in the "LGAPP/Media/swf/" folder.
- All locations in themelist.txt are set to "1" (ie Location="1")
- I've rebooted the phone

What am I missing?

Cheers

erm this may sound daft but have you looked in the actual theme manager thread?

if double tapping does nowt then theme_g2 is not copied as that is what the "hacked" version "waits" for (if you know what i mean.)

Also, see this http://ku990.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=6452.
I know it says you can run it from the memory card, but you can do it on your desktop too - to sort of preview installing TM.
