iPhone 3G[S] vs. LG Viewty

Ok although the new iPhone only has a 3mp camera, i believe that the software handles things better, which was always the problem with the viewty. Below are some photo's taken with the 3G[S] and then the viewty.

As you can see, the images taken with the 3G[S] seem to be clearer and more detailed.

100% TOTALLY DISAGREE. Although I do have the iPhone 3g I'm pretty sure a lot of people will have a hard time agreeing with you on this one... All the shots you took are from different angles and if I'm not mistaken different light settings.

Try to take the same picture from the same angle, same distance from the subject and with the same lighting conditions with both your phones.

Cause from the looks of the pics you posted it's really kinda unfair for the Viewty because all of the iPhone pics have excellent lighting and all the Viewty ones were taken under crappy lighting especially that "against the light pic"...

Why not take daylight macro pics of the same flower or whatever as well as day lit landscapes with exactly the same angles and etc... Also put the Viewty's size at 3.2mp so it will be a fair comparison..

From the pics above it's just too impossible for the iPhone to take better pics under low light settings especially if you consider that it doesn't even have a flash and the Viewty is equipped with a strobe/xenon (ku990r) one.

I see where you are coming from, although all 6 photo's where taken in the same room with the same light. If i were really that bothered i may do a full and thorough test but i always hated the way the compression and shutter speed ruined every photo taken on my old Viewty.

If i get chance to use my girlfriends Viewty again i may do just that.

The main point that i wanted to make was that the new iphone's software is better equipped to handle the camera it has been given, unlike the Viewty.

If those pics were taken under the same light conditions then there's no contest that the ones taken with the 3Gs is a lot better... It's just a little bit too hard to swallow since the Viewty pics posted seem a bit too crappy.. Having been a Viewty owner once I know I can take better pics than the ones you posted... But then I also know that with the Viewty I once had.. Playing with the settings really helped take better photos..

Question: Did the Viewty's flash go on when taking those pics??

Anyway about the iPhone's image processor being quite good.. I won't disagree with you on that.. Even the 3G can take good enough pics under daylight.. But all n all I think the 3Gs pics are quite good given the fact that the 3GS isn't even a dedicated camphone. Even the Video you posted in the other thread is quite impressive.

Anyway if you have the time I'd still love to see a more thorough comparison from both fones.. Maybe under daylight or maybe even under low light with the Viewty's settings all set to "Auto" maybe?

It would be nice to see the 3GS being on par if not beating the cr@p out of a dedicated camphone.

yeah but when i bought the viewty i bought it for the camera features because that was the only thing they were boasting about but you dont buy an iphone for the camera quality i dnt really use mine that much tbh the iphone has soooo much more to offer than its camera and if you compare the iphone against the viewty theres one clear winner

the iphones pictures look far clearer than the viewtys but dont forget the viewty has the smart light function to give the picture an added boost but iphone still wins hands down.

i have noticed this too with my viewty. you would think the quality woud be a whole lot better than what it is being 5mp.
