to archonX: try delete whole LGAPP directory in toto-mode, refresh, disconect and reconnect the cable, and then copy the backup LGAPP folder

EDIT----DO NOT TRY THIS---Toliver

Ok, you need to explain what you have done so far, step by step.

This is the only info we have so far and it's not very clear.

Are you 100% sure you had vodafone v10c and not v10b?

What files have you put into TOTO.

What happens when you rename TOTO to LGAPP and refresh the folder and click disconnect, then clik yes to reset?

@juleanu Do not post advice that is not appropriate.

Hi, i´m from Germany and i have a big problem with my viewty!
As i get the viewty i had a firmware from t-mobile, so i made a v10a and it was great.
So today i would change the font, so i rename the LGAPP to MOEP but as i see this doesn´t work i renamed it a few times, now i´ve seen this thing with refresh.
But after that renaming action, my viewty ever showed me the yellow refreshing screen.
So i tryed to install the firmware v10a again but in the middle it shows error and stopped.
Than i tryed to connect the viewty without the battery, this didn´t works.
Know my viewty doesn´t show the refreshing screen, it only shows this LG screen.
when the usb cable is connected it turns on and off.
So this is my problem i hope you can help me...
sorry for my bad language!

When your renaming the folder LGAPP always do the editing in the right hand window, not the tree list left. When you rename from LGAPP to TOTO or whatever, right-click and select refresh to confirm changes. When done the left hand pane will still show a LGAPP folder, but ignore this and dont use it.

Don't try copying random folder in attempts to roll-back software versions as all you do is make the situation worse.

Go through the EFS steps again from the begining and always use the right hand pane, always refresh each folder after any change and don't do the steps where you disconnect and reconnect.

Let us know what happens.

thought after some weeks of intensive viewty testing i was no more a noob bricking his viewty, but it happened
The firmware version that came with the phone: 10a
The network you are on: Vodafone
Language you phone is in: German
Whether your phone was/is locked: unlocked, unbranded

so, i didn`t really break my phone, i just erm...changed it and need some help please.
the problem is:i`m on vodafone and tried out some more themes, replaced the 1 folder, shortcuts.xml and the .swf. afterwards, i wanted to have the original files back again, so i copied the backup files u can get here on the forum, named v10a-tmobile branded.somehow overread the "tmobile-branded" and now, i have wrong shortcuts in the main menu, phone section, there are 4 too much icons: web`n walk, mobile tv.jukebox and t-zones. the normal menu is beneath the wrong, so there are actually 8 icons where 4 should be.
what can i do to have my normal v10a menu again?
thx very lot for your help

@stevenrfc07: Did you rename TOTO to LGAPP correctly? ie Did you spell it right?

The YSoD (Yellow Screen of Death) happens when there is no LGAPP folder that the phone can see. Try to connect again and check the naming. And make sure its in CAPITALS.

If you follow the above and it is still not working, tell us can you connect via EFS? Can you see LGAPP? is it empty (just empty folders)? is TOTO still there?

****

Why do you not know your basics? If you are attempting stuff like this you should know what firmware version you are running so you can fix it if you mess it up !! Some people amaze me..

Software revisions (V10a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h etc) are NOT updates but different Brandings! Swapping them will lose operator functions like MMS, internet etc! If you are unsure, don't do it!
