Hi, I'm in the UK where the iphone is only supported by O2 and I have just had one [1st gen] given to me by my grandson and would like to know what problems I would have if I used my Vodafone sim in it. I have already tried the Voda sim and it works sending and receiving texts and phonecalls but was told if I tried to set the phone up properly via Itunes it may get bricked. It will also connect wifi to my home broadband connection and works fine but I've not tried using it on one of the free wifi hot spots around my area. If it is possible to set up all of the phones functions with Vodafone could you please tell me how. I am very impressed with the phone so the last thing I want to do is brick it.

You should know better than to ask that. Cydia holds everything you need on this subject.

Yes you can just download ultrasnow from cydia and run it. You will probably need to run redsnow to jailbreak first, thats if you havnt already.

In the future DO NOT update to new firmwares until the Dev Team says it is ok to. Each time Apple releases an update to the firmware the dev team has to rework ultrasnow. FYI 3.1 will be released soon but dont get it until you are sure the unlock is available.

Hmm, restore and rejailbreak bro, unfortunately I am away for a couple of weeks, but when I'm back I will be able to help you out. Have you been installing all updates for cydia/mobile substrate/winterboard? If not do this from inside cydia.
