Scams And Ripoffs Beware !

In case you are not aware, a man claiming to be from 3 rang me offering me and Iphone 3G as a Christmas present if i cancel my current contract and sign up to a new one !

The Point is, its a scam, it wasnt three, if i had given them my details i would have entered another contract, so i would be paying for 2 and receiving no Iphone !

Anyway If Someone from three rings you or any other network for that fact and offers you something that sounds too good to be true beware !

I knew this would be the case from the very beginning. Your network operator will rarely phone you of at all.

What happens is;

Your information-phone number and maybe email are sold to other companies for things just like this. It is like when you see these offers in the paper where you get a free games console if you sign up.

I swear I must get at least one phonecall every month from someone saying "Hi I'm calling from 3 I see your due to upgrade soon, would you......" this is where I say STOP! No I'm not I have 12 months left and where the f**k did you get my number? To which I get "thankyou, enjoy the rest of your day" closely followed by a swift hang-up.

When you are due for an upgrade, 9 times out of 10, it will be you ringing them because you want the latest handset. They probably rely on this.

And like Evo said in the original post, no operator besides o2 will be giving iPhones out, and even that isn't likely.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

While we're on the subject of scams, I received an email from "Lloyds TSB" stating that my business account was about to be suspended and to avoid it I should follow the link in the email. No doubt, had I followed this link, I would have been asked to enter my account details for verification.

Funny thing is I don't even have a normal account with Lloyds, nevermind a business one.

I then forwarded the email to Lloyds fraud department.

If this happens to you I suggest you do the same.

I get about 20 of those emails everyday in my businesses email account. Phishing is rife atm.

Busta sorry to hear about the would be scam. I remember you saying about the call, it did sound too good to be true but these days you never know. Phone companies will do anything for customer retention.

Personally i wouldn't want an iPhone anyone. The most underfeatured handset out there. The UI is good but not as nice as touchflow IMHO.

TBH I've spent the last few days intensively playing with the G1, which for a first gen handset is mind blowing. It also has a capacitive touchscreen (like the iPhone) but has every feature you can imagine. (Even cut and paste )

no way, I think is stunning in person.

In pictures it always looks huge but in reality its very small really and the little curve fits nice around leg in pocket.

The hinge that opens the screen is also cool and very strong (although like the look of the N97's more, guess I'll have to wait for that.)

I have an Iphone i bought it last night a white 16GB version !
I paid £445 I know its only £400 in 02 and CW on PAYG
But im on 3 and its the only Iphone ive ever seen on 3 !
My contract ends next year and im happy with The Iphone, the bluetooth is a bummer but i love it !

Btw i never got scammed, someone told me they had so i knew staright away it was a con and thats why i want to warn you lott

Yeah, i went to a shop in the town centre not knowing it was impossible for Iphones to work with three, anyways i saw this white 16gb and fell in love with it, i asked the woman if it would work with my 3 contract sim and she said no !
So i asked if i could just try it, ahs assured me it wouldnt work !

Viola It worked

I was overjoyed and bought it !

ahh i see.

You should be ok, but be aware that three as a network know what phone your using, and In their T's & C's they state that you gotta use their handset with your sim. (even though we dont always).

In the past 3 have been known to switch off peoples sims when they use them with iPhones.

Not trying to shit on your happy day but just let you know that you're not 100% in the clear. Google "iphone and three" for many cases.
