Default Correct usage of the post report button

The report post button

Hi to all members New and Old.

As of late Myself and the other Moderators have been flooded with reported posts to our e-mails.

Some of them are genuine spam reports (well done guys lets keep the scum out of our forum) but mostly they have been people reporting a post/thread because of other silly reasons, to Quote one that i received, this was the reason i was given, "Why can't i download this theme?".

This is not acceptable, posts should only be reported if they contain;
  • Spam
  • Abusive language/behaviour
  • Fighting/bullying

It clearly states this when you start to report a post.

So if the reason you are reporting a post does not fall into one of the stated categories and is simply a query regarding the content of a post then please do not use this function.

I should also make it clear that reporting a post will alert all Admins and Moderators of the forum. It will not send a message to the creator of a theme or someone who has supplied some content for download.

Thankyou guys and girls and continue to enjoy using this great forum

This seems to be increasing again...
To all users: Please use the 'Report' button to report: Spam, Blatant advertising, Offensive language, Bullying etc

It is not there for you to comment on the post, or to agree with it.

Please help us admins by using the 'Report' button responsibly - if we have to trawl through a load of these just to find the ones about spam etc, it makes it much harder & take longer.

Agreed and as an incentive to the next person who mis-uses the button, I'll give you some time to think about your actions, say a weeks suspension from the forum.

We have been fair so far guys, but it's just blatent disregard when it says right there when you report a post, the reasons you should consider.

Everyone should be checking this section of the forum because it isn't always us handing out warnings, you can find out what's going on with the developement of the forum in the sticky above. Daz needs your opinions too guys.

Its unbelievable how many people use the report button incorrectly, or people who pm me for links to top level forum categories, or to help them fix their phones.

Since starting this site I have grown more and more concerned by the average intelligence of a very large number of users.

Please please please, think before asking questions.

I get 100's of emails asking why new peeps can't start a thread, even though it clearly says, in bold, when they're trying to start a thread that they need to make at least three replies. If you can't read bold text on a warning then we're really not interested what you have to say here.

We have a good user base and some incredibly clever developers but the prose of the site is tarnished by the stupid here.

Think, Search... and then ask questions.

I'm always happy to develop features to help people and add new features, any older members know that well as the site has constantly evolved.

However i've always had the same response to people who spam, break the rules or annoy moderators through stupidity (e.g. have you ever seen me give a warning?). You get 1 chance on this forum, so think very carefully before doing anything stupid.
