The New Downloads Section :)

Hi all,

So you asked for it, and now we have it! I have today put live our new links and downloads manager (top right).

The Downloads Manager

I'd really like from now on all downloads to be uploaded to this manager (as opposed to using rapidshare etc - with one exception see below) so that downloads can always be kept up to date in one place.

For example all themes should now go into this manager uploaded as a file with a screen grab. The author then has enough control to be able to make updates to the original file as he makes changes so that everybody knows they have the most recent version.

Games

The only exception is games. I don't want any games uploaded to the manager for now so have disabled direct file upload (although you can still link to external files).

There is too much copyright law surrounding games and it'll take too much moderating.

However in the downloads manager you have two options to add an entry, as a file upload or as a link. Should you wish to upload games, please upload to RS or somewhere like that and then share the link.

Theme Developers

It's going to take ages to get the files already dotted around the forum across, so if you are a Theme Developer I ask that you contribute a little effort to help market you theme.

All theme developers are responsible for uploading their own theme files. This will give them the ability to update the file as it gets more advanced.

Contributors

Members who help upload files already found on the forum may receive benefits. The top file uploaders will be promoted to Site Team status as a Site Contributor. This means access to site team only forum, unlimited downloads and no mailbox restrictions etc.

Restrictions

All Site Team members have full unlimited use, Unfortunately due to bandwidth standard memebers for now are limited to 20 downloads per day, to deter abuse.

Please use this feature, If instead of all the RS links we used this instead before long we will have a really great comprehensive downloads collection.


*This post will be updated as more things become apparent.

There is a "loose" section for anything that doesn't have an adequate section already. Just upload misc files here with a section recommendation in the description and We'll make a section to suit.

Alternatively pm me any suggestions (please don't use this thread).

Awesome feature Daz, ive already started uploading my collection of games to the new section. Hopefully will have all it done by today.

This new download system will allow people to rate and comment on uploaded games (or apps) and help the community. Also allows for more screenshots and descriptions (than the other thread).

PS: just a thought, would it be too hard to add in a category system for the games?

That's amazing work.

We'll clear out the links from the overused thread and put a link to the downloads section. That way the thread can be used to dicuss you submissions.
