iPhone 3GS and OS3 details from WWDC
So today was the WWDC presentation in Cupertino.
Along side some new info about Macbooks and Snow Leopard (that we won’t go into) there was LOTS of new iPhone news for you fans.
We’ve bulleted the features in the order they’ve come up and so without further a do:
iPhone OS 3
iPhone OS 3.0 new features include:
- Copy and paste
- MMS
- Landscape keyboard through all apps
- Search within messages
- “Spotlight” (global search across phone)
- ITunes – rent and purchase movies through phone
- Parental controls
- Data tethering
- Safari improvements (3x faster)
- Autofill
- Find my iPhone (logon to mobileme and it shows you where your phone is on a map, you can send it a message and even remote wipe)
- Diabetes – blood glucose monitoring and other health features.
- Push notifications
- Better GPS
- Line 6 guitar amp connectivity
and now what you’ve been waiting for:
The new iPhone 3GS
To be honest pretty uninspiring for a new model, however some performance improvements etc.
- The S stands for speed
- Looks identical to standard iPhone 3G
- Camera at 3 Megapixel
- Autofous / auto white balance
- Built in compass and Nike+ support
- 5 Hour talk time battery
- Voice Control
- Pricing is set at $199 for 16GB and $299 for 32GB when it goes on sale June 18th Stateside and in 80 more countries in August
- current 3G will remain on sale for $99, effective immediately.
