Is today’s UK Samsung unveiling the Omnia Pro as in Asia

Well we all know today at 6pm here in the UK Samsung will unveil a new handset, one that they’ve been keeping the identity of well hidden.

However in the early hours Samsung updated their Korean website with two official releases from the CommunicAsia 2009 show.

The two Phones of interest here are the Samsung Omnia Pro B7610 and B7320. The Omnia Pro B7610 (catchy name?) is a new QWERTY slider from S, much like a Touch Pro or G1, the B7610 is more of a Blackberry styled handset.

The hot gossip is that the latter will be unveiled later today due to the similar footprint of the device to that of the xrays on the Samsung Unpacked website, but we should see both handsets here very soon. I secretly hope its the QWERTY slider Omnia Pro though. With that resolution and functionality it’s a real winner for Samsung as nobody else can even compete with those screens. (fingers crossed)

These are the only only specs we have so far, and they are for the Omnia Pro model: 3.5 inch AMOLED touchscreen display with 480 x 800px resolution, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 5.1MP camera, 800Mhz CPU, 1GB of internal memory, FM Tuner, Wi-Fi, Tuner Out, GPS, HSDPA/HSUPA connectivity and Windows Mobile 6.1.

All I can say is QWERTY  + AMOLED + Hi res + 800 Mhz = Awesome! Expect an update sometime after 6pm tonight with the UK unveiling and what we can expect in the next week or so. There’s still hope for the I7500 after all……mmmm Android.
