As we know from previous versions, the launch of source is the first step to getting the newest version of Android on your device.
The source code is now officially available for Jelly Bean! Oh Yes!
Writing on Android Building Google Group, Jean-Baptiste Queru, Technical Lead for the Android Open Source Project, said:
“We’re releasing Android 4.1 in AOSP today.”
AOSP is the acronym for Android Open Source Project.
Currently bins are available for the Nexus 7 and Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the Samsung Google Nexus S and Motorola Xoom will soon join them (officially)
Cue unofficial ports to start appearing all over XDA and the like.
